This piece accompanies a written testimony.

This work exists For The Animals, not as symbol, not as metaphor, and not as an expression of personal gain.

The wider record is preserved as each letter is released, with access shared through Letters of Witness.

Each testimony image is intentionally framed with a clean, light border as part of the record, and the embroidered emblem is individually executed on every made-to-order garment, with natural variation in thread colour and finish.

Mock-up imagery is illustrative. Slight variations may occur in the final garment, reflecting its individual production.

A Statement Against Scapegoating and State-Sanctioned Killing

This unisex tee confronts the reality of badger culling, a policy sustained not by evidence, but by blame. Framed as disease control, the cull redirects responsibility away from systemic failures within intensive farming and onto a wild, protected species forced to bear the cost of an industry unwilling to change.

Badgers are not carriers by choice, nor architects of agricultural disease. They are sentient, social animals whose lives are disrupted, destroyed, and erased in service of maintaining the status quo. Rather than addressing overcrowding, biosecurity failures, and industrial farming practices, the system selects an external target, one that cannot resist, cannot speak, and cannot escape.

Entire family groups are wiped out. Territories are destabilised. Survivors are displaced into unfamiliar areas, increasing stress and movement, the very conditions that worsen the spread of disease. What is presented as control becomes escalation. What is presented as necessity becomes routine killing.

Image as Testimony

The artwork captures a moment of quiet accusation. A solitary badger sits at the edge of a field under cover of dusk, alert, exposed, and watchful. Behind him, fences cut through the land, marking boundaries he did not create but is condemned for crossing. In the distance, warm lights glow from human dwellings, symbols of comfort, safety, and systems built to protect themselves.

The badger is not depicted in motion or threat, but in stillness. His posture reflects awareness rather than aggression, presence rather than intrusion. The landscape is calm, almost pastoral, yet charged with tension, a reminder that violence does not always arrive loudly. Often, it is sanctioned quietly, carried out at night, and justified with language designed to soothe conscience.

This image bears witness to a life made vulnerable not by nature, but by policy.

A Declaration of Moral Reckoning

“Blame does not fix a failing system; it protects one that refuses to change.”

This declaration names the core injustice of badger culling. When a system is structurally flawed, blame becomes a shield, deflecting scrutiny, preserving profit, and preventing reform. Killing badgers does not resolve disease; it preserves an agricultural model unwilling to confront its own role in creating it.

The statement rejects the narrative that responsibility can be outsourced to wildlife. It challenges the idea that eradication is a substitute for accountability, and that destruction is acceptable when reform is inconvenient.

Each piece stands as A Declaration of Freedom for All Beings, affirming that failure should not be managed through sacrifice, that wild lives are not expendable, and that justice begins with confronting the systems that cause harm, not the animals forced to endure it.

Colours Used & Their Significance

This Colour Edition artwork uses deep twilight blues, muted greens, and warm amber light to reflect the conditions under which badger culling most often occurs, concealed, nocturnal, and deliberately removed from public view.

The softness of the dusk palette contrasts with the severity of the act it represents. Golden tones echo the comforting language used to justify the cull, while shadows and mist suggest uncertainty, displacement, and loss. The balance between warmth and darkness mirrors the moral contradiction at the heart of the policy: reassurance built upon destruction.

The colours are intentional, exposing how violence is often softened through atmosphere, distance, and narrative control.

Wear Your Values

This is a refusal to accept blame as policy.
A stand against killing used to protect industrial convenience.
A declaration that wildlife should not be sacrificed to preserve systems that refuse reform.

Wear your values in defence of truth, accountability, and the right of all beings to exist without becoming scapegoats.
