This piece accompanies a written testimony.
This work exists For The Animals, not as symbol, not as metaphor, and not as an expression of personal gain.
The wider record is preserved as each letter is released, with access shared through Letters of Witness.
Each testimony image is intentionally framed with a clean, light border as part of the record, and the embroidered emblem is individually executed on every made-to-order garment, with natural variation in thread colour and finish.
Mock-up imagery is illustrative. Slight variations may occur in the final garment, reflecting its individual production.
A Statement Against Normalised Cruelty
This women’s tee confronts the hidden reality of industrial pig farming, a system engineered to suppress empathy and transform sentient life into production units. Rendered in vintage sepia, the design removes distance and nostalgia, forcing attention onto what is deliberately kept out of sight.
Pigs are highly intelligent, emotionally complex animals, capable of forming strong social bonds, recognising individuals, and experiencing fear, distress, and comfort. Within industrial farming systems, these traits are not acknowledged as evidence of worth, but treated as inconveniences to be controlled, managed, or erased.
Mother pigs are confined in metal crates that prevent them from turning, nesting, or nurturing their young. Piglets are mutilated without pain relief, separated prematurely, and raised in environments defined by confinement, waste, and deprivation. Many are killed in carbon dioxide gas chambers, a method documented to induce panic, breathlessness, and terror before loss of consciousness.
This suffering is not the result of oversight or failure. It is the intended outcome of a system that prioritises efficiency over life, and yield over dignity.
The Image as Witness
The artwork presents a dense gathering of pigs pressed tightly together, their bodies filling the frame with no visible escape. Individual faces emerge from the mass, each distinct, each aware, meeting the viewer’s gaze with quiet presence rather than aggression.
There is no spectacle or exaggerated violence. Instead, the image captures the reality of overcrowding, erasure, and forced proximity that defines industrial pig farming. The absence of open space reflects lives lived without choice or agency, while the repetition of forms speaks to how individuality is dissolved within systems that measure existence by output alone.
The composition asks for recognition rather than pity, confronting the viewer with the sentient beings behind an industry that depends on them remaining unseen.
A Reckoning in Words
“To ignore the light in their eyes is to expose the depths of humanity’s darkness.”
This statement confronts the moral distance that allows industrial farming to persist. The “light” it names is not symbolic sentiment, it is awareness, intelligence, and the capacity to suffer. To deny it requires deliberate dismissal, a turning away from what is plainly visible.
The message challenges the idea that cruelty becomes acceptable when it is widespread, legal, or profitable. It insists that moral failure is revealed not by what animals endure, but by what humans choose to overlook. Recognition carries responsibility, to question, to refuse participation, and to choose compassion over convenience.
Each piece stands as A Declaration of Freedom for All Beings, rejecting confinement, mutilation, and erasure as normal or necessary, and affirming that awareness carries obligation.
Campaign Colour & Vintage Options
This design is anchored in its dedicated campaign colour: Heritage Brown, and is also available in one of four shared Vintage Sepia core colours.
Heritage Brown evokes confinement, rusted bars, concrete floors, accumulated filth, and skin pressed against metal, grounding the design in lived conditions rather than abstraction. The tone reflects environments stripped of warmth, choice, and comfort, mirroring the controlled existence imposed on pigs from birth to death.
The shared Vintage Sepia core colours reinforce that this suffering is not isolated, but endlessly replicated across facilities, regions, and generations, sustained through normalisation rather than necessity.
Wear Your Values
This is a refusal to accept cruelty as routine.
A stand against systems that profit from confinement and disregard.
A declaration that intelligence, awareness, and feeling demand respect.
Wear your values in defence of dignity over efficiency, compassion over convenience, and the right of all beings to live without being reduced to commodities.
